Te Rau Aroha – 28th Maori Battalion Museum

Te Rau Aroha Entrance

A museum dedicated to honour the women and men who served our country, specfically the 28th Maori Battalion who fought in World War II

On Waitangi Day 2020 Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern opened the Te Rau Aroha museum dedicated to the men and women who risked their lives in the service of their country with one gallery specifically to commemorate the 28th Maori Battalion.
A fast tracked delivery approach was adopted to ensure completion of the museum in time for Waitangi Day 2020.
The project has been a great success with higher than ever visitor numbers to Waitangi in the last year, despite the absence of overseas visitors.
