This project was developed to expand Mainfreight’s coverage of the Hawkes Bay region and to replace a well-loved Napier site that was in need of a larger new home. The aspirations for the project were simple – a purpose-built facility, on the right site, focused on the needs of the local team and their customers. The Irongate Industrial precinct offered this very opportunity with a four-hectare site adjacent to Napier-Hastings Expressway providing direct motorway access.
The development features a high-performance cross-dock facility designed for rapid freight turnaround and was built with an emphasis on durability, sustainability ensuring long-term performance in a demanding logistics environment. High-quality materials, durable finishes, and leading energy and water-efficiency initiatives contribute to ease of maintenance and long-term performance and have set a benchmark for future Mainfreight developments.
