This initiative was driven by the Nelson Youth Council and aims to raise awareness of climate change while creating an inviting green public space. It incorporates upcycled and refurbished planter boxes, locally sourced planting and repurposed seating. The installation created a quiet, inviting space for people to sit, eat lunch and socialise away from busy footpaths, while demonstrating sustainable and flexible approaches to city‑centre design.
MPM’s role included managing stakeholder requirements, overseeing the design and procurement stages, and coordinating delivery in collaboration with Nelson City Council and project partners.
