In 2009 Queens Wharf was purchased for the people of Auckland and was made available to the public for the first time in 2011. Queens Wharf is currently a key feature in Auckland's waterfront urban realm providing an opportunity for Aucklander's and visitors to our city to connect with the Waitemata. This project fostered the creation of a public destination and turned the wharf into a better place for people. Its successful activation is critical to Auckland's tourism and economy as it is the gateway to over 250,000 cruise visitors annually.
MPM have provided Project Directorship and Project Management services for the initial and ongoing activation programme on Queens Wharf. This has involved working with Waterfront Auckland's operational team to identify and then implement short and longer term initiatives.
These initiatives have allowed us to provide lateral thinking and solutions in form of a series of small but high-impact urban interventions:
- Ground Graphics
- Planter Boxes and seating
- And many more to come…
